Questions and answers
Straight answers about resizing a photo or signature for online forms: KB limits, pixel sizes, DPI, passport size, white backgrounds, iPhone photos and privacy.
Using PhotoSize
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your phone or computer. Your photo is never sent to a server and nothing is saved.
Will the file pass the KB limit?
Yes. The tool never saves a file over the maximum you set. It counts a KB as 1,000 bytes, which passes whether the form counts 1,000 or 1,024 bytes per KB.
Will the size be exactly what the form asks?
Yes. The downloaded image always has exactly the width and height you enter, in pixels or converted from mm, cm or inches at your DPI.
Does it remove my background?
Not yet. The background option fills empty edges with white, light blue or light grey. For a white background, stand against a plain light wall when you take the photo.
Can I use an iPhone photo?
Yes, if it is JPG or PNG. HEIC photos aren’t supported yet; on the iPhone set Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, or share the photo as JPG.
Is PhotoSize free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up and no watermark.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It is made for phones first: choose a photo from the gallery or take one with the camera, then pinch and drag to crop.
Can it make a file bigger to reach a minimum KB?
No. It never pads a file. If the best-quality file is below your minimum, it tells you to use a larger pixel size, which adds real detail.
Which format does it save?
JPG for photos, which almost every form accepts. For signatures you can also choose PNG if your form allows it.
Does it set the DPI?
Yes, when you enter the size in mm, cm or inches. The DPI is written into the JPG so printers and print shops use the right physical size.
Is it the official size for my form?
PhotoSize makes the size you enter. Rules differ between organisations and advertisements, so take the size from your own advertisement or portal.
Why an online form rejects your photo (and how to fix it)
Why does the form say my photo is too large when it looks small?
Forms check the file size in KB, not how big the photo looks on screen. A phone photo is usually 2–5 MB, so set the form’s maximum KB in PhotoSize and download the new file, which is never over that limit.
Why is my photo rejected even though it is under the KB limit?
The form is probably also checking the pixel size, the minimum KB or the format. Enter the exact width and height, add the minimum KB if the form has one, and make sure the file ends in .jpg.
Can a form reject a photo for being too small?
Yes, some forms set a minimum such as 10 KB. Enter it as the minimum KB; if the photo can’t reach it, use a larger pixel size so there is more detail to store.
How to take a form photo with your phone
Can I take a passport-style photo at home with a phone?
Yes, for most online forms a phone photo works if the light is even and the wall behind you is plain. Check your form’s own rules, since some ask for a studio photo or a recent print.
Should I use the front or back camera?
The back camera is usually sharper, so ask someone else to take the photo. If you take it yourself, hold the phone at eye level and at arm’s length to avoid a distorted face.
Can PhotoSize make my background white?
No, it does not remove the background you were photographed against. It only fills empty edges with white, light blue or light grey when you zoom out or rotate, so stand in front of a plain light wall.
KB or KiB: how big is “50 KB” on a form?
Is 1 KB 1000 or 1024 bytes?
Strictly, 1 KB is 1,000 bytes and 1 KiB is 1,024 bytes, but many programs use “KB” for 1,024. Forms rarely say which they use, so staying under N × 1,000 bytes is the safe choice.
Why does Windows show a different size than my phone?
Windows counts in units of 1,024 bytes but labels them KB, while phones and macOS usually count in 1,000s. The same 50,000-byte file shows as about 48.8 KB in Windows and 50 KB on a Mac.
Will a 50 KB file from PhotoSize pass a 50 KB limit?
Yes, a file made with a 50 KB maximum is at most 50,000 bytes, which is under the limit whether the form counts a KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.
How to reduce photo size in KB on Android or iPhone
How do I reduce photo size in KB on my phone without an app?
Open photosize.danixsoft.com in your phone’s browser, choose the photo, enter the size and maximum KB from your form, and download the result. The photo is processed on the phone and is not uploaded.
How do I make a photo exactly 50 KB?
Set 50 as the maximum KB, and the file will be the best quality that is at or under 50,000 bytes. It is usually a little under 50 KB because JPEG size changes in steps, which is fine for any form with a 50 KB maximum.
Where is the downloaded photo saved on my phone?
On Android it is usually in the Downloads folder, also shown in the Files app. On iPhone, Safari saves it to Files → Downloads unless you choose another place.
Photo ka size kam kaise karein (KB mein): step by step
Photo ka size KB mein kaise kam karein?
PhotoSize kholein, photo chunein, form ka size aur maximum KB likhein, aur Download karein. The new file is always under the KB you entered, and the photo is not uploaded to any server.
Photo ko 20 KB mein kaise karein?
Open /resize-photo-to-20kb/ or type 20 as the maximum KB in the tool. If the face looks blurry at 20 KB, crop tighter or use a smaller pixel size if your form allows it.
Kya yeh free hai aur kya photo safe hai?
Haan, it is free and the photo stays on your device. PhotoSize resizes it inside your browser and the downloaded file has no location (GPS) or camera data.
What is DPI? A plain guide for forms and printing
How many pixels is 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI?
35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 pixels. The calculation is mm ÷ 25.4 × 300, rounded to the nearest pixel.
Does changing DPI reduce file size?
No, the DPI value alone doesn’t change the file size. File size depends on the pixel size and the compression; DPI only changes how large the image prints.
Is DPI the same as PPI?
For digital images, yes in practice: both mean how many pixels go into one printed inch. Strictly, DPI refers to printer dots and PPI to image pixels, but forms and most software use DPI for both.
Passport photo size in pixels: common sizes at 300 and 600 DPI
What is 35 × 45 mm in pixels?
35 × 45 mm is 413 × 531 px at 300 DPI and 827 × 1063 px at 600 DPI. Check whether your form asks for a specific pixel size, since some online forms do.
What is a 2 × 2 inch photo in pixels?
A 2 × 2 inch photo is 600 × 600 px at 300 DPI and 1200 × 1200 px at 600 DPI.
Will PhotoSize make my photo meet passport rules?
No tool can guarantee that; PhotoSize gives you the exact size, DPI and KB you enter. Rules on background, expression, glasses and head size are set by each authority, so check their official requirements.
How to get a clean signature with a white background from a phone photo
How do I make my signature background white?
Photograph the signature on white paper in daylight, then open it in the signature resizer at /signature-resize/. It evens out the lighting, makes the paper white and the ink dark, and trims the edges automatically.
Why is my signature faint after cleanup?
The pen was probably light or the strokes thin. Move the Ink threshold slider to the right to keep thin strokes, or tick Darker ink; signing again with a darker pen also helps.
What size should a signature be for an online form?
Use the size your form’s instructions give, since it differs between organisations. Many forms ask for a wide, short image and a small KB limit such as 10–20 KB, but check your own advertisement.
Why a photo gets blurry after compressing, and what helps
Why does my photo become blurry when I reduce the KB?
Reducing KB forces JPEG compression to discard detail, and a large pixel size with a small KB limit leaves very little room per pixel. Use a smaller pixel size if allowed, crop tighter, and start with an evenly lit photo.
What JPEG quality is good enough for a form photo?
Around 70% or higher usually looks clear for a face at form sizes. PhotoSize always picks the highest quality that stays under your KB limit and shows it in the result.
Can I compress a photo without losing quality?
Not to a small KB limit; JPEG compression always removes some detail. You can keep the loss low by using fewer pixels, a plain background and good light, so the file needs less compression.
How to convert a photo to JPG for an online form (HEIC, PNG, WebP)
How do I convert a PNG to JPG for a form?
Open the PNG in PhotoSize, enter your form’s size and KB limit, and download; photos are always saved as JPG. Transparent areas are filled with white or the colour you choose.
How do I stop my iPhone from saving photos as HEIC?
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG, which forms and PhotoSize accept.
Can I just rename a .heic or .png file to .jpg?
No, renaming changes only the name, not the format inside the file. Many forms check the real format, so convert it properly instead.
How to convert cm, mm and inches to pixels
How many pixels is 1 cm?
It depends on the DPI: 1 cm is 28 px at 72 DPI, 38 px at 96 DPI and 118 px at 300 DPI. The formula is cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI.
What is 3.5 × 4.5 cm in pixels?
3.5 × 4.5 cm is 413 × 531 px at 300 DPI, 276 × 354 px at 200 DPI and 132 × 170 px at 96 DPI.
What DPI should I use to convert cm to pixels?
Use the DPI your form or printer states. If none is given, 300 DPI is a common choice for photos that may be printed, and 96 DPI matches the usual screen measurement on Windows.
Photo and signature size for online forms: what it means and a checklist
What photo size is required for online job forms?
It depends on the organisation and the advertisement, so read the rule printed in your own advertisement or on the portal. Once you have it, enter the pixel size and KB limit in PhotoSize to make a file that matches.
What is the difference between pixel size and file size?
Pixel size is the width and height of the image, such as 200 × 230 px; file size is how much storage it uses, such as 45 KB. A form can check both, and the same pixel size can have different file sizes depending on compression.
Is it safe to resize my photo and signature online?
With PhotoSize, yes: the files are processed inside your browser and never uploaded. The downloaded file has no location or camera data.
KB and MB explained: how to read a file size
How many KB is 1 MB?
1 MB is 1,000 KB. Software that counts in 1,024s, such as Windows, treats 1 MB as 1,024 KB; the precise names for those units are MiB and KiB.
Is 500 KB bigger than 1 MB?
No, 500 KB is half of 1 MB. 1 MB is 1,000 KB, so any size under 1,000 KB is smaller than 1 MB.
How do I check a photo’s size in KB on my phone?
Open the photo and view its Details or Info (swipe up or tap the ⋮ or i button). For downloaded files, the Files app shows the size under the file name or in Get Info on iPhone.
