How to reduce photo size in KB on Android or iPhone
Step by step: make a phone photo fit a form’s KB limit in the browser, without installing an app. Works on Android and iPhone.
Why phone photos are too big
A modern phone camera saves photos of 12 megapixels or more, which usually comes to 2–5 MB per photo. Online forms often accept only 20 KB to 200 KB, so the photo needs to be made smaller in pixels and compressed. You don’t need an app for this; a browser page can do both steps on the phone.
Step 1: open the tool and choose the photo
Open photosize.danixsoft.com in Chrome, Safari or any current browser. Tap the button to choose a photo, or take one with the camera. The photo is opened on your phone and is not uploaded anywhere, so it works on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
Step 2: enter the size from your form
Type the width and height your form asks for. If the form gives pixels (for example 200 × 230), choose px. If it gives centimetres or millimetres (for example 3.5 × 4.5 cm), choose that unit and enter the DPI; the tool works out the pixels and writes the DPI into the file.
Step 3: set the KB limit
Enter the maximum KB from the form, and the minimum KB if there is one. The tool tries different JPEG quality levels and keeps the best one that stays under the limit, counting 1 KB as 1,000 bytes so the file passes either way a form counts. For common limits there are ready pages such as /resize-photo-to-20kb/, /resize-photo-to-50kb/ and /resize-photo-to-100kb/.
Step 4: crop and check
Drag the photo to move it and pinch to zoom, so your face sits inside the guide oval. Use Rotate 90° if the photo is sideways and the Straighten slider if it is slightly tilted. The preview shows the final pixel size, file size and quality before you download.
Step 5: download and upload
Tap Download. On Android the file usually goes to the Downloads folder; on iPhone, Safari asks where to save it, and Files → Downloads is the usual place. When the form asks for the photo, choose that downloaded file rather than the original in your gallery.
If the photo can’t fit
If the tool says the photo can’t fit, the pixel size is too large for the KB limit. Use a smaller pixel size if your form allows a range, or crop tighter so there is less detail to store. A photo taken in even light against a plain wall compresses better than one with shadows or a busy background.
Questions
How do I reduce photo size in KB on my phone without an app?
Open photosize.danixsoft.com in your phone’s browser, choose the photo, enter the size and maximum KB from your form, and download the result. The photo is processed on the phone and is not uploaded.
How do I make a photo exactly 50 KB?
Set 50 as the maximum KB, and the file will be the best quality that is at or under 50,000 bytes. It is usually a little under 50 KB because JPEG size changes in steps, which is fine for any form with a 50 KB maximum.
Where is the downloaded photo saved on my phone?
On Android it is usually in the Downloads folder, also shown in the Files app. On iPhone, Safari saves it to Files → Downloads unless you choose another place.
